The M3A2 polyvalent Hand Grenade is represenrative of a mature grenade design, and is likely to be encountered anywhere within the Imperiam and surrounding areas.

The grenade consists of polymer enclosed charge of 500gm of composition T. Added to this core chassis are a variety of sub assemblies that allow the grenade to be tailored to the requirements of the mission These assemblies include:

  1. M202 fuse. Selectable for 0-5 second delay
  2. Fragmentation sleeve. Consisting of a threaded tube containing coiled, notched wire.
  3. Rifle launch conversion. With bullet trap and booster motor.
  4. Bounding booster. On impact, the bounding charge propells the grenade approximately 1m into the air before detonation.

Grenaded are normally packed 20 to the case. Each grenade is sealed in it's own container. The container can be used to convert the grenade into a simple bounding anti-personnel mine.
Notes:
The M3 is one of the most common massed produced hand grenades likely to be encountered. It is simple, effective and versatile. It can easily be configure as an offensive grenade, defensive grenade, rifle grenade or antipersonnel mine. It is relatively small and light. It has an effective radius of 15 meters when used with the fragmentation sleeve, or 5 meters without. The typical soldier can throw the grenade about 40 meters, and when configured as a rifle grenade, it has an effective range of 350 meters.

This grenade is particularly effective due to its bounding charge. It normally detonates 1 meter above the ground, maximizing the effectiveness of of it's notched wire fragments. Typically, it will produce 90% casualties at 5 meters, and 50% at 15 meters.
