Sources report that the PEG is a carbine sized gauss weapon firing a 10mm frangible, subsonic round. The weapon is composed primarily of composites, and can be separated into two subassemblies which will fit easily into a briefcase. It is designed to defeat most weapon sensors, and when disassembled, appears innocuous. The weapons is fitted with an advanced computing gun sight that compensates for range, windage and target motion, giving the PEG excellent first round hit probability despite the exaggerated ballistic arc that results from its low velocity. The sight also has image enhancement and thermal capabilities. The PEG is fitted with a destruct device and can act as a powerful incendiary device. The surface coating will not retain fingerprints and it is believed that the lubricant used on the weapon contains an agent which destroys biologicals, making genetic evidence useless. The projectile is highly frangible, toxic and undetectable by ballistic tracing systems. Notes: Reports of this weapon first surfaced after the assassination of SolSec defector Mori Talman. Talman was being escorted from a safe house by IBI bodyguards when he suddenly collapsed. By the time medical attention had arrived, his entire nervous system had been destroyed. Sensor recordings of the event showed no ballistic traces, and the nearest possible firing position was over 700 meters away.
