The Marder Assault rifle is a pure military derivative of its well regarded assault carbine. It is constructed primarily of composite materials, with a steel lined titanium barrel. The assault rifle employs Marder's piston-primer method of operation and is capable of semi or fully-automatic fire. The assault rifle fires Marder's proprietary duplex ammunition, but can fire the standard 5.5mm M855 cartridge in an emergency. Use of non-Marder ammunition requires that the action be manually cycled.

An advanced optical sight is fitted, with backup iron sights. An efficient blast/flash suppressor is fitted to the muzzle, and the rifle can emply all standard rifle launched grenades.
Notes:
The Marder assault rifle represent the ultimate refinement of the basic assault rifle concept. It's simple method of operation and construction means that the rifle is easily maintained and utilizes about half the number of parts normally employed in this type of weapon.
