The action is made up of a relatively small number of simple, rugged parts, and the weapon is highly accurate and well balanced. The Light Rifle fires the 7x45 intermediate round, which is effective against poit targets out to 800 meters.
The receiver is a titanium investment casting and is relatively long due to the light rifle's downward ejection, making this weapon suitable for both right and left handed operators. The barrel is hammer-forged, and the barrel/fore end assembly can be removed without tools for portability.
Provision is made for mounting of telescopic, night vision or electronic sights, and the light rifle is frequently employed by snipers.
