The Sniper Rifle

This is an example of a modern sniper rifle from the webmaster's collection.

This is a Remington 40X match rifle bedded in an Accuracy International Chassis System. Barrel is a stainless steel Hart with a 1:10 twist. Scope is a 30mm SWFA naval contract Tasco10x mil dot. This rifle will consistantly shoot 1/4 minute of angle using Federal .308 match ammunition (155gn Sierra MatchKing Palma bullets).

Salient features of the this sniper rifle:
Pecision grade heavy barrel, free floated along it's entire length (the barrel does not touch the stock).Synthetic stock, in this case aluminum and polymer, that is dimensionaly stable (is not effected by temperature or weather). This stock also features a pistol grip for a more comfortable shooting posture and accepts a detatchable box magazine. A heavy bipod for braced fire relieves the operator from the stress of maintaining target alignment for long periods of time. The bipod allows for traverse and elevation to follow moving targets. Note the Picatinny optics mount. This allows for a wide variety of optics to be mounted, from telescopic to night vision sights. A 10x fixed power telescopics sight with mil dot recticle and turret mounted parallax adjustment is fitted. Also note receiver level and Tenebraex KillFlash anti-reflective filter on scope.

Note: ordinarily, a tacticle rifle would feature a non-reflective surface treatment.
